Aquamarine is a 2006 teen comedy about the bond between two best friends and what happens when they discover a mermaid in search of true love. In the fictional beach town of BayBridge, Florida, lies a mystery in its ocean, a colony of mermaids. 

Best friends, Claire Brown and Hailey Rogers are two normal teenage girls who love the beach, surfing and especially boys. They both crush on a the local lifeguard down by the beach in their town. But as a storm rolls through BayBridge, the boy is the least of their focus. After Claire prays to the "Ocean Gods, "The storm washes up a really big fish....like really big in their local pool. And as the girls investigate through harsh winds and heavy rain, they find a...fish human? A human fish? A mermaid. 

    The mermaid informs the teens her name is Aquamarine. Which is the name of a gemstone that’s reminiscent of the oceans waters. The name comes from the Latin words for “water” and “Sea.” Aquamarine is determined to prove to her father that real and true love exists after he forces an arranged marriage onto her. Along her journey she enlists the two teens’ help in getting with the lifegaurd but this strains the girls relationship with each other. Will they fall out of touch? Or will their friendship be stronger than an oceans current? Watch the movie to find out!

Aquamarine is a cute movie that is truly about girls friendships with the air of mystery and fantasy to it. The mermaid twist adds a whimsical and curious delight to the movie. The ocean is a character within itself in Aquamarine, it adds to the lively city, acts as the home to both teenage girls as well as Aquamarine herself. Now this is more of a sneak peak description of the oceanic movie after the next post will be a genuine rated review of it !!
